Our Maths today

We are learning about numbers to 1000 and what 10, 100 and 1000 looks like. We are also learning to make a sensible guess or estimation of how many things we have.
We have been collecting acorns and chestnuts in our breaks. It is a fun thing to do in the Autumn.

Today we collected chestnuts and acorns. we found them on the grass and concrete near the trees.

We emptied our pockets and sunhats of all we had collected onto sheets on the classroom floor.
We all guessed on a piece of paper how many chestnuts and acorns there would be.
We had about 10 minutes to put them into rows of 10.

We put 10 groups of 10 together to make 100.
10x10=100
We counted our nuts in 100's.
We found out that we had collected 1784 acorns and 238 chestnuts.

  1. what a great thing to do with all those acorns and chestnuts. I bet you were surprised with how many you collected! I loved this post Room 7.
